About Starr Morin

Starr Morin (nee Bunting) attended the Woodstock High School, graduating in 1967.  After becoming trained as an X-ray technician, she worked in the Radiology Department of the Carleton Memorial Hospital for a number of years.  In 1975, Starr, along with her husband Peter, became the volunteer co-managers of Carleton Pioneer from a part time office situated in their home.  In 1978, the credit union opened a full time office in Woodstock and Starr became its full time paid manager.

For the next 17 years, Starr managed Carleton Pioneer Credit Union with dedication and skill bringing it from its marginal status as a small savings and loan service to the beginning of its transformation into the full service financial institution it is today.

The fact that Carleton Pioneer flourished is due primarily to the management skill and dedication to service which Starr brought to her work.  To honor her for this achievement, upon her retirement as manager in 1995, the Board of Directors of the credit union announced the creation of this bursary.

Starr Morin passed away in 2007 and we are proud to offer these bursaries in her honor.

This bursary is offered to provide financial assistance to post secondary students in the hope that they achieve the skills necessary to become as knowledgeable and dedicated to service as Starr Morin was in her work for the credit union.
